Determination of heat of combustion/calorific value EN ISO 1716
We determine the reaction to fire properties and fire class of construction products. As our customer you can benefit from our services during the product development and we help you to plan the testing arrangements for determining the fire class of your product.
Determining of the heat of combustion/calorific value EN ISO 1716
Absolute value of the heat of combustion (J/kg) for a product is measured with this test method. Heat of combustion of non-homogenous products (products which compose of more than one component/material) shall be determined separately for each layer.
The specimen is combusted completely in oxygen atmosphere inside a high pressure calorimetric bomb heating up the water surrounding the bomb. The calorimeter measures the temperature rise of the water and calculates the gross heat of combustion (PCS).
The method is used for classification of construction products to classes A1, A2, A1fl, A2fl, A1L and A2L. The classification is not only based on the test results of this method. The different test methods and classification criteria are presented in the classification standard EN 13501-1.
The method is used also in measuring heat of combustion/calorific value for materials and components used in ships.
Fire classification for construction products
Fire classification for construction products is made according to classification standard EN 13501-1+A1. Classification for roof coverings is made according to EN 13501-5+A1. The test methods for classification and classification criteria are presented in the classification standards.
