Thermal transmittance
Energy efficiency is an important part of modern construction, and one of the key factors of it is thermal insulation.
Thermal transmittance, or U value, depicts the heat insulating capacity of a structure or material. The lower the U value, the better the product is at insulating heat. Determining the U value of a product makes it easier to plan buildings and to ensure that the product meets the requirements.
We conduct hot box measurements in accordance with the following standards: Windows, doors and vents, reflective insulation materials
- ISO 12567-1:2000 Thermal performance of windows and doors – Determination of thermal transmittance by hot box method – Part 1: Complete windows and doors
- ISO 8990:1994 Thermal insulation – Determination of steady-state thermal transmission properties – Calibrated and guarded hot box
- ISO 12567-2:2005 Thermal performance of windows and doors – Determination of thermal transmittance by hot box method – Part 2: Roof window and other projecting windows
- EN 1946-4:2000 Thermal performance of building products and components – Specific criteria for the assessment of laboratories measuring heat transfer properties – Part 4: Measurements by hot box methods
- EN 16012+A1 Thermal insulation for buildings – Reflective insulation products – Determination of the declared thermal performance
We also calculate U values for doors and windows in accordance with the following standards:
- EN 673 Glass in building. Determination of thermal transmittance (U value). Calculation method
- EN ISO 10077-1 Thermal performance of windows, doors and shutters. Calculation of thermal transmittance. Part 1: Simplified method (ISO 10077-1:2006).
- EN ISO 10077-2. Thermal performance of windows, doors and shutters. Calculation of thermal transmittance. Part 2: Numerical method for frames (ISO 10077-2:2012).
