CE certification of Recreational Craft
The CE marking is an indication of the product's conformity, and it enables the free movement of the product in the markets of the European Economic Area. Notified Bodies carry out verifications (certifications), inspections and tests, based on which the manufacturer can affix the CE mark to its product.
As an accredited Notified Body (NB No. 0809), Eurofins Expert Services verifies the compliance of boats, boat equipment and production according to the requirements of the EU Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EY.
Since 1982, we have carried out type inspections in accordance with the Nordic Boat Standard (NBS) on recreational craft and work boats. We have extensive knowledge of the boat building industry and effective inspection routines. With the help of our network of experts, we are able to ensure that even new or complex boat-building solutions will meet the set requirement level.
We use harmonised standards and the RSG Guidelines (RSG = Recreational Craft Sectoral Group) as our inspection criteria. We participate in standardisation work and the Group of Notified Bodies (RSG), which means that we have up-to-date information on the requirements and are also able to take into account any future changes in the requirements.
We carry out inspection procedures that are part of the duties of a Notified Body on
- Boats
- Boat equipment, such as fuel tanks, hatches, windows and ignition-protected electrical equipment
- Personal watercraft
- Boat noise emissions
- Boat production
We also carry out structural inspections on offshore racing yachts authorised by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), in accordance with the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Structural Plan Review Scheme.
